My name is Michael J. Cohen, but my friends call me Mike. I’m an illustrator and graphic designer in Vancouver, Canada. My studio, AWS Creative offers all kinds of services that make businesses more awesome, like designing logos, websites and business cards.
In my spare time I like to read a ridiculous amount of comic books, consume copious amounts of video games, and watch more movies than is healthy. I also host a podcast called Frontlines: The Clone Wars Podcast, as well as hang out at my favorite comic book store, Metropolis Comics and Toys, with my friends. Oh yeah, and I'm the creator and curator of 8-Bits of Destiny, a video game inspired art show.
My artistic influences come from a lot of places, but the main ones are classic Disney animation, comic books, Art Deco, and a little bit of Japanese Anime. Some of the people I look up to are Humberto Ramos, Sean “Cheeks” Galloway, Mike Krahulik, to name but a few. I like to think of myself as part of the next wave of pop culture artists forging a new style in contemporary art. If that’s too hoidy-toidy for you, then suffice it to say that I hope that one day people will be able to hang drawings of superheroes and video game characters in their living rooms alongside other modern art.
